 Counselling Therapy

There are many reasons why people seek out counselling. Often we are seeking to change and/or better understand a painful experience, learn ways to cope with the challenges life offers us, and become more embodied and fully present in ourselves and lives. Other times we aren't sure what the "challenge" is, but we have a sense that there is something missing. Counselling therapy can be effective for a variety of scenarios, and independently of what the "core" issues are it will help you have insight into your own life and experience.

Counselling can lead to improved mental health, diminish negative symptoms and increase wellbeing, understanding and self-awareness. It can also help us process and make sense of challenging experiences in life. Engaging in the counselling process can help us improve our relationships with ourselves and others.

In order to receive such benefits, it is important to be active in the counselling experience, which requires commitment and effort. The number of counselling sessions you have depends on the goals you set and how long it takes to reach these goals. Rebeca will work collaboratively with you to help you set and achieve your goals while facilitating personal growth through the counselling process. Her goal is to support your own inherent capacity for healing, growth, transformation, and change. While also feeling embodied and grounded in your own sense of self.

Throughout the counselling process you will be invited to become curious about your present experience (in your body, feelings, emotions, thoughts), by learning how to be mindful and present with yourself. Through the experiential framework, you will be invited to be in your body and go beyond talk-therapy, deepening your embodied experience. Depending on your goals we might take this work outside in nature, we might also include flower essences, mindfulness, and integrative methods to help you reach your counselling goals. In the counselling process what might be discussed is your history, significant life events, quality of your relationships, and use some standard assessments. Your unique counselling process is co-created by you and your therapist.
